What We Do
The Dental Health Program- Keeping Teeth Strong is a school-based program that provides the opportunity to each elementary-aged child to receive basic dental services. These services include dental screening to detect early dental decay, fluoride treatments, sealants, dental education, and referrals.
Who We Serve
Our Dental Health Program is available to and serves all public schools, preschools (private and public), and Head Start classrooms.
How We Impact
Rural Nebraska Panhandle residents are at high risk for dental decay. Out of the 12 counties, eight are state-designated shortage areas for general dentistry. Other barriers such as significant travel to see a dental provider, finding a provider that will take new Medicaid patients, and the affordability of dental care proves it can be difficult for families to create dental homes for their children. The Dental Health Program fills the gap by providing preventive dental services to children in schools and head start locations. We go where the children are so every child has access to basic preventive dental services.
