Program Summary
Seeking Safety is a present-focused therapy that helps clients attain safety from trauma (including PTSD) and substance abuse by emphasizing coping skills, grounding techniques, and education. Teachers and school counselors will make referrals to the counselor. This highly effective, research-based therapy has several key objectives including: helping clients attain safety in thinking, emotions, behaviors, and relationships; providing clients integrated treatment of substance abuse and trauma conditions; and counteracting loss of ideals experienced from substance abuse and trauma.
Target Population
Students attending Kent County Middle School and Kent County High School. Youth who have dropped out, attend evening school, or participate in services at the Family Support Center can be seen at the outpatient clinic.
